Fingers Crossed For A Good Harvest

apple harvest

Last year we planted some step-over apple trees (a Cox variety) and began training them along wires in between some oak posts.

Our aim was to provide a ‘soft’ fence between the more formal part of our garden and the area given over to the chickens.  The hope being, that the two sections of garden would have some separation but it would still allow us to see the hens getting up to their daily tricks.

Due to the fact that the trees were newly-planted baby twigs last year, we didn’t get any apples at all.

However… they obviously feel right at home as we seem to have a future bumper harvest on our hands.

Not only a pretty fence, but also one that will provide snacks.

Bazinga!
