“Could you look after…

my cocoons for a week?” was the question that I was asked today. “Ummm…ok.” I replied, not sounding too enthusiastic! “What do I have to do to them?” I casually asked. “Not much, don’t worry,” I was told.

“Just watch over them, don’t upset them and when they hatch please feed them with a sugary solution for 2 days before releasing them into the wild.”

Great.  So now I have the responsibility for 5 chrysalises of some species of butterfly to look after for ‘about a week’, while the owners are on holiday.  They will expect to see pictorial evidence of the emerging insects and reports on their successful release into the wild.  I’ll just have to make sure that Keith and Steve are nowhere near when that happens…
