{Cabbage White caterpillar on Nasturtium}
I saw their little whitish-green wings fluttering around the Nasturtium plants about a month ago. I didn’t think it would be long until I saw these little fellas. I have a dilemma though…
I love the Cabbage White caterpillars because:
- I used to collect them in pots when I was younger and give them names like Eric
- They rear up the fronts of their bodies to try and look scary
- They turn into pretty Cabbage White butterflies
- They are bright green with black spots
I don’t like the Cabbage White caterpillars because:
- They always eat my Nasturtiums down to stumps
- They rear up the fronts of their bodies to try and look scary (and it actually scares me)
- I worry about how many will actually survive to change into butterflies
- They’ll be back again next year

A dilemma indeed…I guess it depends on how much they are eating. Take it you don´t collect them and lob them over the fence into the neighbour´s garden then ?!!
In this tiny community, nothing is unseen! I don’t reckon I could get away with it.
